Spill Studio

The Spill studio performs cd-mastering and production for independent musicians. We stay affordable by focusing on the critical path of soundcard, amp and speakers, and working at home rather than renting a building. There are articles about the studio at Chapter and Tape Op.

We've worked with such notable artists as Dave Graney, Fabulous Diamonds, the Scientists, Lakes and Chris Smith, for labels such as Emperor Jones, Fat Cat, Chapter, Unstable Ape and Trifekta (click for full list of work done at the studio).

Many overseas and interstate artists have had work done at Spill Studio. We handle 'mastering at a distance' by receiving your material via cd or Internet, staying in contact by phone or email, and posting draft cds to you until you like it.

Many artists want to release their music on mp3. Cassettes are back, and vinyl never went away. At Spill we know these formats well, have released them ourselves, and can help you tailor your music to them.

Analog-to-digital transfer is via an electrically-shielded sound card that samples natively at 24-bit/96 Khz, and features digital input from DAT players to boot. So if you have material on tape, this is the place to get a high-quality transfer to cd. We've worked on a number of re-issues of vintage material, such as the Can't Stop It compilations, the Moodists cd, and bonus tracks on the Born Sandy Devotional re-issue.
